Are Fameless Shower Doors Safe?

One of the most common questions customers ask us is “are frameless shower doors safe?” and our answer is always yes.  The reason we can rest assured that our customers do not run any risks with the presence of a glass shower door in their bathroom, is because the glasses that we use at Al’s Quality, are tempered.  These shower enclosures, whether they are frameless or not, are made of safety tempered glass for “yours and our” peace of mind.  We want to be sure that our customers feel safe around them, especially when they have kids as one of the most commonly users of these glass enclosures. This is why we have provided you with a video, so you can experience with your very own eyes, how safe and strong these glasses really are.  In the following video we have a 3/8” thick safety tempered glass door, just like the ones we use for our installations, and we will show you how much it takes for one of these glasses to be broken.  The door is first hinged to a wall, simulating a shower wall, and after this step you are shown a different variety of metals and woods that we will use to “attempt” to break this glass before it actually happens.  Obviously these are not things that regularly happen on a household on a day to day basis, people don’t usually grab a hammer to knock on a glass shower door, but we want you to get the idea of how much strength and power you would need to break one of these glasses.   Just think, a 3/8” tempered glass is 10 times stronger than a regular glass, which means that our 3/8” tempered glass is as strong as a regular glass that is 3 ¾” thick! So now can you imagine the force that would need to hit this glass to actually make it crumble to pieces? And that’s our next point.  A safety tempered shower door is so safe, that “if” it’s broken, and that’s a big “if”, it will crumble into tiny little pieces as we showed you in the video.  Why is this safer? Because since it doesn’t crack into big pieces like a regular mirror or glass, you can feel safer that if it breaks, it will just crumble down instead of having huge pieces flying right at you.  We are so secure with the quality of our glasses that in one of our videos, three of our installers decided to stand on a piece of glass, not only one by one, but all of them together to prove to you that you have nothing to worry about.  We want to show you that if we can feel safe, then you can feel safe too.  We had the guys lay a piece of glass flat, using only a chair and the truck rack as holders on each end, so that one at a time they could get on top of it.  We recorded it at different angles, so that you can appreciate that this is true, and that our glasses can support the weight of three grown man without breaking or even cracking.  Why were our installers not afraid? Because we stand 100% behind the quality of our shower doors and we believe in our products. At Al’s Quality, it is our main priority that we provide you with the best in quality and design, so when you are thinking of remodeling your bathroom, or of making home-improvements, we want to be your number 1 choice! We will design with you and guide you through the process, so that at the end of this journey, you won’t only have a beautiful frameless shower door enclosure, but a safe one as well.

How to clean a FRAMELESS SHOWER DOOR:

There are many ways to clean a shower door glass, but the most important thing to do is to clean it constantly.
A frameless shower door glass needs to be cleaned at least once or two times per week. Living in a fast-paced environment, nowadays it is hard to keep track of the small things that need to be done on a daily basis, including cleaning a shower glass. Unfortunately the lack of constant cleaning can result in water stains and soap scum buildup in your shower enclosure. There are many products out in the market right now, cleaners such as sprays, or even machines that work and activate automatically after each use. But we recommend neither of these, because in reality, they don’t do a thorough job of cleaning, plus the chemicals can affect the functionality of the frameless shower door hardware. In addition to this, and unluckily for most buyers, the spray product treatment lasts only a couple of weeks and then the customer has to come and make the cleaning process all over again, making this a chore that after one or two times, it’s usually forgotten and left behind, resulting in water stains and soap scum buildups. Even those customers, who actually take the time to use the squeegee or a sponge, and spray their frameless shower glass daily, we still do not recommend it. The reason behind is that these sprays, even though they are clear, they still contain chemicals that tend to seal themselves and any grime particles into the glass, over and over again, producing a buildup on the glass. Aside from this, it is imperative that while cleaning the glass enclosure, the metal hardware and hinges on the frameless shower doors are not touched by any of these chemicals, because they can affect the functionality of them. These chemicals can cause rust on the metal hardware, as well as affect the oil that is contained in the inside of the hinges, later causing noise every time the frameless shower doors are opened or closed. This is why, at Al’s Quality, we recommend the Diamond Fusion Treatment. We offer to treat your glass with this product because, we consider, it is the best treatment in the market to help you prevent against water stains and soap scum buildups in your shower-enclosure. We can treat any new or existing glass, so if you already have a glass, whether it is a glass shower door or glass window, and the minerals haven’t eaten into your glass yet, we can still apply this treatment and, in most cases, it will comes out looking like new and it will prevent any further stains from appearing. Currently we are using this treatment for shower enclosures, house windows, and even automotive glass. Drivers love this product, especially on rainy days, because once the drops hit the glass windshield, this treatment helps the wind clear up the vision immensely, avoiding water buildups and obstruction. House windows receive a great benefit from this product, especially when they are being hit constantly by water coming from the sprinklers, causing that reddish-yellowish looking buildup. With this treatment, the glass looks flawless and it gives a better and cleaner look to the inside and outside of your home. This treatment only needs a one-time application and it also brings a lifetime warranty, providing you peace of mind.
